• The Moon Gates are inspired by traditional round passageways found in Chinese landscape architecture which act as entry and exit points to the garden.
• The circular elements are symbolic of the idea of completion, representing and celebrating the cohesiveness of the family, as members pass through the gate to return home.
• Another interpretation is that, as the moon, the opening is symbolic of the cycle of life, and renewal as the full moon marks wholeness and is suggestive of new beginnings.
• “I love thinking of these sculptures as a portal into nature.
• By looking at the moon gate, I am reminded of the delicate balance between man and nature, and my need for connection between my home life and the beauty and abundance of nature.”
